Six weeks ago, Roc Nation singer, Rita Ora sued the label to get out of her contract with them that legally bonded her to them until 2019.
Ora, said she has not released an album since her 2008 debut and is still sitting on a bunch of music that the label is not releasing. She went on to say that she has not received any support from them ever since they started representing professional athletes.
We all know that is not easy getting out of ANY contract, I guess Ora didn’t think that through when she made her lawsuit.
Today, Roc Nation counter sue Ora for $2.4 million dollars, claiming they have spent over $2 million dollars in developing and marketing the singer.
According to the label, “ we have tirelessly promoted her career, investing millions of dollars in marketing, recording and other costs, which was instrumental in guiding Ms. Ora to her current level of success and fame.”
Ora’s attorney, Howard King, said Jay-Z has allegedly promised her complete freedom from Roc Nation and the “details are being finalized.”
There has been no word yet from either Jay -Z or Rita Ora in regard to this.
