Cloud 9TV Co Ceo and actor of hit web series Money and Violence, Ray Day has recently been cast in the upcoming Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me.
Ray versatility as an actor has expanded from having one of the lead roles in the number 1 web series out, music videos for artists such as Mack Wilds and Jidenna, now he can add starring in movies to his resume.
We have not received confirmation yet, as of what his role will be in the movie, but I’m sure I can speak for everyone that we can expect for it to be memorable.
All Eyez On Me will be released sometime in 2016. The film will detail Tupac childhood, career and events leading up to his murder in 1996.
Up and coming actor, Demetrius Shipp Jr, will play the role of Tupac. Even though he shows a strong resemblance to the legendary rapper, Shipp immediately took acting classes to make sure he did the role justice.
Notorious actor Jamal Woodard aka “Gravy” will resume his role as hip hop icon Biggie in the film.
The film will be directed by video director Benny Boom and production has already begun.
Notorious and Straight Outta Compton was two biopics that have done very well in the box office but also receive mostly positive reviews from critics. There are high hopes that the Tupac film will receive the same expectations.
Tupac, wasn’t just a gangsta rapper, he spoke on several issues in reference to African Americans such as social injustice and inequality. I personally believe, Tupac was a philosopher and wise beyond his years. I don’t think the world was ready at that time for a black intellectual rapper. Either way, I hope they focus more on Tupac Shakur the man, and not just his rapping persona.
What are some of your favorite Tupac songs?
Mine is Ambitionz Az A Rider and California Love 🙂
