Marsha Gay Reynolds, 31, of Jamaica, NY, is a former beauty queen and track star. She is now facing federal charges for allegedly trying to smuggle $3 million in cocaine in her carry-on luggage at LAX this past week.
According to ABC News, Reynolds was chosen for a secondary security screening at the airport after presenting her flight attendant badge.
While in line, court documents say that she suddenly “became nervous and began looking around.” Minutes later she kicked off her shoes and ran out of the airport.
TSA then found almost 70 pounds of cocaine that were individually wrapped inside of her luggage. After a long five days, Reynolds turned herself in.
Reynolds appeared in court yesterday (March 24), and has since been released on $500,000 bond.
According to court records, the bond was cosigned by her parents, church pastor, and a church friend.
At least she got people on her side. She is saying that she had no idea what was in the bag. That’s the story she and her Attorney are sticking to. So in my mind I’m trying to figure out why she ran. Not just ran but kicked off her shoes and fled. I’m not saying she’s guilty, well I don’t want to say she is. I just want to know why you would run if you have no knowledge of heavy drugs in your luggage.
I wish her the best of luck!
