#1000BlackGirlBooks Will Be Honored Pretty Brown Girl Day!

Marley Dias, is an 11-year old young girl #1000BlackGirlMovement that has received nationwide recognition. The movement is a collection of children’s books featuring Black protagonists.

“I understood that my teacher could connect with those characters, so he asked us to read those books,” Marley said in reference to why she started her movement.“But I didn’t relate to them, so I didn’t learn lessons from those stories.

The young entrepreneur will be honored at this year International
Pretty Brown Girl Day in Atlanta, Georgia to receive the Dream Big Award.

The Pretty Brown Girl movement theme is, “Empower a Girl, Empower the World,” represents young girls everywhere to be enlightened and empowered to love the skin their in and live their life to its fullest potential.

Marley, is scheduled to receive her honorary award on February 27th.
